180 Gallon & Ornate Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had mbuna with my first pair of Sens it didn't end well for the slow grower of the two. The other ended up 13- 14 inches (was a good bit longer then the ruler I left in front of my tank) before he went Houdini out the back of my tank. I would not recommend Africans they pic at them to much.
Altho my wife's starry nights ignored my two new ones as they grew out.

I kept all of my sens with my Dempsey at one point or another before he passed (old age he was 9ish). While I did not have too many issues they did tear each other up on occasion. I have however seen a huge difference in my sens behavior since he passed now all 3 freely roam the tank instead of just the albino (her and my old bichir were raised with the Dempsey and shared a cave, he even protected her from the two new ones on occasion ).

So while the bigger cichlids may work I agree your better off with acaras or something more mellow. I have an eb acara in with mine now and will soon add some red hump geos.

I did some more research on some new species and I came up with this possibly overstocked stocking list.
1. ornate bichir
1.BGK
5. geopahgus
1. rainbow shark
2. Hujeta gars
1. Oscar or other show cichlid
This list could be totally out of wack but I thought it look really nice, any feedback is much appreciated

Rainbow shark and hujeya gars would get eaten, and pick a cichlid wisely.
