whatever makes you sleep better at night. but when the day comes, remember me in the back of ur mind. or maybe my words will encourage you to be apart of the 20% that actually keeps them for life.

I hope to be part of that 20% and will try with all my might to make it so. Thanks ;)

Okay, well you guys have given me something to think about. I will consider all of this when choosing what I stock it with. Thanks.

i think so, you know why? some people move around, some people get bored. sometimes weird stuff happens. sometimes people can't afford the bigger tank to keep a full grown aro.

so yah, i think so.

tru fish keepers that are dedicated to keeping fish might keep one for life. 90% of fish keepers with aros will not keep them for life (20+ years) letting it die of old age.

at first i thought you were nuts, but the more i think about it youre right. even if you are totally dedicated to keeping fish, things happen that are out of your control. i personally am trying to keep all of my fish for life.

If I was to get a baby arowana, how long would it take for it to reach a size that would be too big for a 180?

it would really be up to how big u wanna let it get b4 u think its to big for the 180. but generally by the 3rd year, it'll almost look to big for the 180

Yes, I am dedicated to keep my fish for life.....at least fish arent like dogs or people when they get old, doctor bills start to add up when they start to deteriorate and wither away and die.

no keeper really keeps them for life, a 180 will do u good for a few years. if u decide to keep it for life, then you will be the judge wether or not ur aro looks happy in that 180. we couldn't tell u otherwise.
aros live 20+ years.

This is a very good point, and I think really holds true for our teenage members. They have yet to discover, cars, girls, lack of finacial funds to support cars, girls. Later in life comes college, dorm living or even living on your own in a tiny apartment on the 4th floor were you can only have a 55 gallon tank max.

:iagree: Seasons change like the wind.......life isnt so solid, in fact it's more like water.....flows like the currents.

I'm going to be using a 180 as a growout for three p-bass and one black arowana. Then Im moving them the black and p-bass to a 375.

Then the 180 will be used to growout some silvers that will be introduced into the 375 when I feel they are big enough.

A black arowana can live atleast three years in a 180, some people say for life. But I dont really know if I would keep it in a 180 for life.

lol you change your mind alot i wouldnt start planning your 375 yet because theres a good chance youll change your mind by then. its fun to plan tho, i think i completely changed my big tank 4 times when i first got it.
