you really should consider using live rock...it is a great natural filter for your tank and harbors a bunch of good little critters.

with some good aqua scape I think you would start to like it.

I did consider using it. It took a long time for me to decide to go with the coral skeletons. But, like I said I like that look better.

My daughter has a 29 gallon FOWLR. It looks pretty good. However, since you mentioned good critters, bad critters can also tag along. They can be a pain in the but to get rid of also. Aiptasia came with hers along with a butt load of bristle worms. Some folks say bristle worms are ok. I don't know myself. My daughter hates them. She actually had a nightmare about them eating her precious little clownfish! LOL!

Anyway, since I am well aware of the benefits of the live rock I will more than likely add it to a sump. Probably in the 50 gallon range.

yes that is true...but the good befits for sure out weigh the bad. aiptasia is really easy to get rid of...just throw in a couple peppermint shrimp or use Jones juice.

Throwing in the sump is a good idea though just to have at least some in the system.

What kinda skimmer you running?

ha yah it is...I remember when I had mine.

what other fish are you planning on adding? A miniatus grouper would be pretty sweet...

once the tank has been up for 6-9 months every rock in there will be 'live'

i still just think it looks bad, and the whole coral skeleton thing doesn't chime a good tune ecologically either ¦:/

I also plan on going fish only with no LR for my shark and ray tank.

First of all I have a second set of coral that may be switched out with this set when or if I feel the need to clean it (I may just leave it alone and let it go live).

Secondly we're going to have to aree to disagree on the whole "it looks bad" thing. A wiser man than us one said "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" (or is that beer holder :D).

Thirdly (is that a word?) The table corals and blue ridge corals are replicas no harm to the enviroment from them. The pipe organ, brain and others I've had or bought from ebay...used. So no recent harm there. Driving big 'ol honkin' SUV's and using aerosol cans aren't too good for the enviroment either but millions of people do it every day.

Sooo lets have a drink or twelve and enjoy our tanks.
