I was hoping you'd put them up for sale :naughty:

Didn't Steve have a wild breeding pair of rotkiel for ages? I have a decent male and am looking for a proper female too.

He did-but honestly.....they were not the prettiest rotkiels Ive seen. There is a lot of variety, I suspect due to location of collection. Those only were red when spawning. I had some awhile back that their whole head was red....that's what Im looking for.

Thanks-
The guy I got them from got them a couple of years ago from a seller on aquabid that is pretty well known-can't remember the name right now.

They are from Manaus.

I'm going to try to breed them-I have about 800 umbee fry in my garage....figured that was plenty so I sold the pair earlier this week-there will be 4M/2F after tomorrow. There is a5th male that Im getting too-but it has a bad eye and Ill give him to a friend of mine with some other geos.

I'd like to add some rotkiel or super red sevs.

First off, GORGEOUS fish!! I love Geos!

I'd be skeptical about the collection site actually being Manaus. I'm sure you are aware that it is a large hub where fish are taken to be processed and shipped out of the country. Unfortuntely they don't always take the time to say where they were actually collected so if someone asks they just give you the name of the processing area. In this case Manaus.

Regardless, stunning fish!! :headbang2

I know exactly what you mean and am looking for the same fish :)

I built that background including the tree root-its made of styrofoam and concrete.

You did one hell of a job on it too! It looks extremely life like. Did you post the background build on MFK? Would love a link to that. Your Altifrons are beautiful. Can't say that enough!

Yep-Im aware that Manaus is where everything comes to get shipped out....but....looking in Weidner's book-these look like those. Honestly-they may be from somewhere else... I'll never really know. The Manaus version seems to have a ton of yellow on it as do these. The photos I took don't do them justice.

Those are in fact 'Manaus". I had some a few years back and sold them:screwy: Another member on here has two of the group of eight I use to have - (Jgentry)

Fishman, can you recall the mans name that you got them from? I originally bought mine from a man in TX, I think his name was Paul Scarborough but I haven't seen or heard from him for a long time.

I would really like to get my hands on some more.:)

Stunning altifrons. Definitely more yellow than I've ever seen on them.

Oh, and the fake root looks great, but as far as I'm concerned awesome aquascapes are just par for the course in your tanks by this point. I am curious what kind of paint you used on the concrete and whether you sealed it or just gave it lots of time to cure.
