190 Gallon Custom Red Belly Shoal (Pic Heavy)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here is an update, these guys have been in the tank for a little over a month now. and they are growing EXTREMELY fast. They are getting less skittish. To get them used to me I stand right in front of the tank when I feed them so if they want to eat they are forced to come to the front while im there and now they will come out often. They still don't trust my girlfriend though. When I got them they were between 2.5" and 3.25". Now the smallest one is around 3.5" and the largest is around 4.5" maybe even larger. If you notice I am slowly switching my gravel to a small gravel substrate. I love the look of the large river rocks, but it is just too big of a pain to clean it.

Here's another update, these guys are loving all the free room. still fairly skittish when you move but if I sit in front of the tank they come out to check me out. they range from just under 5" to 6". including the tailfin.IMG_7202.JPGIMG_7208.JPGIMG_7217.JPGIMG_7225.JPGIMG_7227.JPG

They eat pellets, shrimp, blood worms, tilapia fillet. I also just picked up a breeding pair of convicts so I should have some good healthy feeders shortly.

Havent done an update on these guys in a while. but here it is. They have slowed down in growth but are really starting to put on the weight. all 8 are still healthy and eating well. the one with 1/2 a tailfin never did grow back properly so I've named him "Nip". I also got rid of my plecostomus that was in the tank so that I could delve into live plants a bit. not sure what I have as the guy I got it from called it water lettuce but its growing like wildfire. I hope to get more plants soon. was looking at some of the harder anubias but not sure what else. the bottom is close to 1/3 black gravel now as I've been changing a small portion each time I do a water change so I don't disrupt the bacteria too much.

Very cool set up and great looking fish! My next will be red bellies. I have a Black diamond piranha now but he cant have tankmates. looking forward to having a shoal. Are they timid around you when they are small even in a large shoal?
