It was in my truck and I then when we were sliding it out, it must have hit a bolt in the bed and shipped it. It is holding water but in a very scary place. I am going to do what I suggested here in an earlier post and run a 12 inch wide piece of glass at the bottom for a brace and it should be fine. I hope.

oh man that sucks so bad I'm sorry to hear that, i hope it holds good idea on another piece of glass at the bottom, i hope it works out good for you damn that sucks...

I decided to just try to reseal from where it split the seam at I overlapped existing non loose silicone to GE 1 window and door clear, I think it went pretty good for the first time, I used a auto-caulking gun thats battery powered, it runs a constant bead, also I used 3 razor blades to clean off little over 5 feet of back seam. painters blue tape to make a clean seam, used a old card and a quarter and shaped the edge of the card to fit the old seam and to smooth out the silicone, job done.. on silicone part hopefully it will hold that way, also scraped and scraped and used aceytone 3 differnt times to clean and then I laid the bead.

I will see in 7 days, I just want to make sure its cured and it will give me time to build a level stand to hold it on, does anyone have a really sloped basement and what do you do to keep it level? i know shims and metel shims but I have not done it yet but the picture I get in my head is if I shim the front like I know i will have too there will be a gap from the shim in other spots now what do I fill that area with? make sense?

Well, if it is not too bad of a slope, you could build the stand and then use a plane to shave the bottom of the stand evenly to your slope.

yea that is a good idea I will keep that in mind..

So its been 5 days since I siliconed it, my g/f and I were looking it over and she says whats this? I say I don't know and I look and there is a chip the size of a quarter in the top side panel of the glass, now its not that bad its almost like a sliver of glass the size of a quarter round but not as thick as a quarter still siliconed in spot but i was in awwwww, i'm guessing i can just re silicone that spot or just put silicone on the chip part, it sucks because its in perfect view, also it was not there 5 days ago when I cleaned out the tank and neither of us hit the tank so now it just seem like i'm running into all kinds of problems with this tank....Also i looked at the top plastic frame and i never looked before or atleast never remember it looking like this but its not even i will show pics so here you all go.

it just seems like this tank is slowly falling apart i dunno its werid, well i'm going to just prob silicone over that peice its not too bad looking like i was saying almost like a sliver of glass i don't know how it happened but damn, today we are going to look at a 180 gallon with stand for $150 the lady said it holds water and will have it filled when we get there, hopefully that will work out and hopefully i can still have this tank run also, thoughts opinions about the chip? and best way to go about fixing it...

We picked the 180 up today, for $150 with the stand. The stand has a few bumps and bruises for sure but not anything that cant be fixed. As for the tank it self, it does have a couple scratches nothing major, she filled it to show us that it didn't leak. However, one concern is this, in the picture below you can see the frame is actually bent away at the side. It is of course hard plastic so you can't just push it back into spot. Any ideas as far as what to do to fix this (heat?) and if it will be fine with the water in it this way? It doesn't leak yet, so it may be alright...hmm no idea really. Just thought I would ask for some input. Still need input on the other tank if anyone can think of anything. Thanks (mikeand) Ann

Nice find at under $1/gal.

That frame being bent like that should not affect the integrity of the tank. Be wary when using heat, if you heat up part of the glass too much by accident the whole pane will crack. I'd be tempted to see if you can get that frame off the tank to try to fix it. Failing that I'd try with slowly increasing doses of heat to bend it back, like a hairdryer, an iron, a heat gun, and if you dare a torch. I'd spread a wet towel on the glass when applying any heat to the frame.

If it was me I'd probly just put that side towards the wall :p

yea good deal for sure under $1/gal, that's good to know it does not effect the integrity of the tank, and also good to know about heat i never would have thought it would do that but it makes sense..i will not touch the frames and or try to heat it, I'm glad you said if it was you, it would go on the back of the wall because that sounds like a good idea..ty for the feedback.
