Haha highland giant and lowland giant are both "technically" yarelli's but that whole genus needs to be reworked. We believe that the highland (HLG) should be called B. bagarius since it is the largest and what everyone thinks of when they think goonch. The lowland (LLG) should be the actual B. yarrelli. I'm not sure on the actual locations of the tropical Asian species but those consist of rutilus, suchus, lica and dwarf sp. if it actually exists. I believe lica and suchus are in Borneo though and rutilus is in Thailand.

So if someone bought a goonch, wanting it.to get t
5 foot plus, it is the yarelli? Because bagarius bagarius is confused with bagarius yarelli, or does the yarelli get huge too?

My assumption is that they still get pretty big. None that I know of have been found as large as the HLG but the LLG still gets pretty large compared to the warm water species in other parts of Asia.

Then feel free to ask all the questions you want, preferably there so as to not highjack this thread.

I'm working on an actual guide for thus genus, but with my new job, college, and a clingy kid, finishing it has proven to be quite difficult.
