From what I know in my brief research of scarlet badi’s, they seem to be slithery aggressive. I am not sure if They have teeth. They are a cichlid, so probably. They get to 2”. That’s all I know

From my experience I'd favor cichlids over ctenopoma/betta/goruami at parity but again I've heard of microctenopoma dominating larger cichlids while breeding. (Most care sheets say that even dwarf cichlids will dominate microctens). Never kept either. Are badis really cichlids? I thought they were closer to anabantoids.
Most people don't want to go through 7 pages, I'd make a new post for each battle if possible
Badis are their own thing, not cichlids or anabantoids.
My money would be on the microctenopoma. Overall meaner and more potential in a fight. No experience in either though.

Are micros that mean, I only experienced regular ctenos and they were very docile especially to each other. Getting pushed around by kribs and even congo tetras when they weren't that large. I know that badis can be mean to each other. But honestly, I'm not impressed by either as fish. Might make good tankmates

Honestly, I think the cat would wind up winning in a similar turn of events to with the paradise fish.
