2 AC110's on a 150?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
get 3 ac110's. I run 2 on a 90 gallon overstocked with fish, and my water stays clear all the time. You won't regret it

one other thing alot of people dont get the marineland 400's cause cost of the filters. i got a LFS that sells generic filters for them 4 for $10. but i just buy 12"x36" filter pad that cost $5 and cut it to size to fit in the 400's. and i get a pint size of carbon that i use in the refillable plastic sections that i barely use. still have some carbon that i have had for over a year now. thats about a years worth of filtration for me for $10.

i think that i will run my 150 with the fx5 solo.

i'll be taking my current fx5 from my 125 and add both of the ac110's to the 125, then i'll put the fx5 on my 150.

how about that. saving some money without getting that extra fx5.

I just recently discovered a cheap replacement cartridge for the Emperor 400s (or 280s..). kensfish.com has his own brand of replacement cartridges for a 1.60 each. I haven't tried them yet, but plan to order some soon. Sure beats $12 for 2 rite-size E pads from the LFS. If I didn't find these I'd be doing what you just described...

the aquaclear system is much better then the 400. the biowheel is a pretty useless feature IMO. its a nice idea, but doesnt always function properly. that, along with a lower flow rate, and inferior bio-media, pretty much speaks for itself. and of course the fact you only have to replace the filter in the aquaclear every 5 years or so.

wow a 1.60... and i thought the 2.50 a piece was good. but i still like my way... all i do is cut it about 2" wider then the gray plastic one and stuff it down in there. the gray one holds it in just fine. i don't even use the carbon anymore really.

I would run 2 FX5's, I have 2 on my 220 :D
