I just rcv'd my pure metro from www.jehmco.com will see how this goes. thks all

You've had this problem for some time now. In this advanced stage, don't expect overnight results. You may have to treat 10 days in a row for any improvement at all. Just don't overdose this stuff when you do your treatments. It can cause organ damage in fish when overdosed. When I use this stuff, I measure out the dry powder in a glass, add hot water, and stir like mad. It's hard to dissolve, but you can dissolve most of it, and just pour it into the tank.

yep, I know not get fast results. today is 1st treatment with metro. It says tho to do partial w/c then treat every 24hrs. up to 5-7days. but says if don't see improvement in 3days to stop.

right now the one discus that was not eating is now eating.

the one I QT but released into tank after seeing its poop darker light brown had eaten in QT but not in the main tank. spits out the flakes & hasn't taken to the freeze dried bloodworms yet. but pecks at the driftwood & sponge filter. I'm still hoping this will recover.

otherwise all others eating well. but sure they are all carriers.

after I get thru the metro treatment then will use prazi-q next.

thks for the follow up since my troubles began hilly.

Yeah, it says to stop after 3 days, but if the fish has advanced Hex, it's going to take more treatments. I once had to treat a wild green 13 straight days before I saw any improvement. If it had not been an adult wild fish, I would have just thrown it out the back door into the woods. Sometimes extended treatments is what it takes. So long as you don't overdose each time you treat, it won't kill your fish. I usually do a 50% daily water change before each treatment. Sounds like if your one fish is pecking, and the others are eating, you may be on your way to recovery without extended treatment. Good luck.

I treated 5 of 7 days since 2 fridays ago. last treatment was thurs. currently no other treatments except for w/c.

Good news! all my discus are eating, even the stunted QT one - in fact it now partakes in the chase/be chased tournament going on in my tank!

Not sure if it truly eradicated the hex. But very happy of the eating frenzy by all.

but now all of a sudden (3days now) dealing what looks like to me tail rot, some have this white smear in their tail finnage, some in their caudals, some splitting of fins.

don't think it's result of their pecking each other. some suggest it could be due to stress from all the meds I had to use in recent past.

the white smeared condition has to be some kind of virus or bacteria? some suggest just do w/c & no more meds.

but I it is very difficult to watch & see it worsen. b-4 it was only seen in all the discus that a tint of blue in them (not the reds/orange pidgeons/marlboros or my brown discus), but just observed one marlboro shows signs in its tail fin.

can anyone give me a clue as to what type of bug I have? & suggestions on treatment?

I have restrained myself from adding anymore meds.

but this is what meds I have in stock

prazipro
pure metro powder
pure praziquantel powder
Rid Ich
jungle clear parasite tablets
jungle fungus eliminator powder
pimafix
melafix
table salt

pH 7.2
AM=NI=0
NA=5

thks all

My advice is to keep the water clean, and let it go. It's no doubt just a little excess slime coat. It's normally not a big thing unless the fish is very sick, which is not the case. It's more likely it's just a little fin damage. It should clean up on it's own. Those poor fish need a break from meds anyway.
