Oh I thought the ones in the vid was the 30 incher. Ya the one in the thread is HUGE!!!!! I heard that a steady diet of feeders actually contributes to a monster size.

If you're feeding dojo loaches like they do in Japan, yes. However with the thiaminase issue we have with the cyprinid feeders we use here in the states, this would be counterproductive and not work IMO.

After all, armatus eat mostly cichlids and other characins in the wild. Feeding them goldfish to them is as unnatural as giving pellets.

And yet some of the largest ones have been raised on a pretty steady diet of feeder comets. It's a touchy argument and it goes both ways.

I wouldn't give advice I wouldn't follow myself. I still feel that feeding cyprinids to a predator that doesn't eat them is asking for trouble. That's just my take on it however. I've read enough on the negative effects of thiaminase that I wouldn't give it to MY fish and I will continue to advise people to do the same.

I'm actually quite disappointed right now. I expected better from you, rob :)
Loaches are Cyprinids.. Maybe they contain less/no Thiaminase but they are still Cyprinids!
Just a heads up. I don't know much about characins themselves.

true. no matter what people say, it the answer for monster characins. I absoltely never seen a monster armatus or ATF vid from youtube that doesn't have comets in their tank. Yes there is thiaminase but those armatus look healthy as H#ll. feeders are the key. lol i'm tempted to fatten up my armatus with either guppies or convict though.
