i know people do this, but heres what i'm curious about as far as what people's 2 cents is about what i'm think. It seems to be good logic to me that if i decide to throw an HOB filtration unit on a tank lets say 55 gallons, that i get 2 smaller HOB like lets say 200 gph instead of getting just one HOB with a higher gph, say 400 or 500. if i had 2 HOB, i could place them on opposite ends of the tank and have them keep circulation better in the corners. This to me would eliminate any need for a powerhead and IMO would be more valuable gph flow. Does anyone agree, disagree, need translation?

If it were me, I would put on 2 emperor 400's if I were doing hobs.

thx. that is pretty cheap! well i still don't have the new tank YET..... but i'm getting closer to getting the funds and finding where to look for what i want, thanks for the heads up though cam. you would really run 2 emperor 400s on a 55 gallon?
My only question is why use 2 smaller HOB's? Use 2 of the recomended size or bigger.....

2???!?!??? i can see running 1 emperor on a 30 gallon. on a 55 i might even run 1 400 and then have a smaller HOB in the corner, like a penguin 160 or whatever

edit/ just a thought. If you run an EMP400 on a 30g, then wouldn't running 2 on a 55g be pretty much the same?
A 55g is pretty much 2 30's stacked next to each other.
