Today was probably the most exciting but yet most tiring day.

This is going to me a mix Malawi Tank:

This morning I woke up and had a wire hair up my butt to setup my 60 gallon as my brother final took his tank to his new place. So with the empty space, I quickly setup up my tank. It is a 60 Acrylic w/ matching black formica stand and canopy. I got 60lbs of darker color pebbles at the local building supply store for $7. I than got some Lava rocks for .11 a pound. Dug through my mox of aquarium stuff and found I still had a ton of plants. Put some final touches and I was ready for water. The sump is a 20 gallon with a single chamber for bio balls. The return pump is a Rio 10HF with a flow of 660 gph. Currently waiting for my new lights for the tank. Now im just waiting for some T5 lighting, to go into this system.

The 2nd tank will be a Frontosa Tank:

So on Saturday, while sitting on work. I decided to jump on Craigslist and see what was up. I clicked on an ad the said "FREE TANK" and contacted the lady. Thinking the tank might be crappy, I didnt really have high hopes for it. Rolled up to the lady's house after work at it is a Jewel!!!:headbang2It is a 125 gallon tank with a 60 gallon sump. It was perviously used as a reef setup but than sat in the garage for 5 years. She also gave me a box full of equipment which included (2) Rio 2100, (3) 3100 and (2) 200. So at this point Im loading everything as fast as I can before she realizes what she is doing.

So after setting up the tank at home, this morning. I shoot over to the Dental office and start working on the new tank. I clean it up as it has some salt build up. Paint the back of the tank black and add egg crate to the bottom of the tank. I brought 100lbs of white sand at the building supply store and start cleaning the crap outta it. I also brought 200lbs of various rock for a habitat. Get over to another Craiglist find and pick up a new FX5 with all media for $200. He than says he is selling four 3' strips of T5 lighting for $200. I pay him for the lights and head back with only 2 strips as he has to uninstall the other 2 from his running tank. Put everything together and this is what came out of today's work. Water is still cloudy but should clear up in a couple of days I hope. Gonna add some plants in various spots and start waiting for the conditions to be right for Frontosas.

DANG, you got lucky. I love craigslist. I really want to buy this 125 gallon tank that has a leak. Its only 50 bucks, but I dont really have the room for one. I just set up a 45 in my bedroom bringing my total number of tanks up to 6.

It all looks great by the way. I like the lava rock, did you just stack it like that or did you drill/chip any of it to make better caves?

I actually got the rocks like that. I sat at the Building supply store/yard and picked out the ones I wanted. They had thousands of them and I was like a crackhead looking for his pipe. The workers gave me weird looks, until they found out why I was taking so long picking out rocks.:ROFL::ROFL:

Holy Crap. Im so tired that I was speed typing this post. Jesus, I said like a student in a damn ESL class. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind comments fellas

No, the husband was there to watch me load up the tank. Apparently, they had rented out the house and the person never took it with them.

Wow that first one looks fantastic! Nice work, I hope the pain was worth it!
