Tank Size: 150g (72 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 28 1/2)
Filtration: 2 x Rena XP3s (Plus 1 Powerhead)
Stock: 8 Giant Danios, 6 Yoyo Loaches, 3 Severums, 1 GT*, 1 BN Pleco

I'm curious if I have enough filtration on my main tank, if I don't with the two XP3s will one FX5 be enough?

My thought process: I have two 55s that I will be setting up this spring, I was planning on getting some AC110s for them. However, the thought came to mind that if I don't have enough filtration on my main tank, I can just buy a FX5 and then put an XP3 on each of the 55s. I know the more filtration the better but if I don't have to drop $300 for an FX5 then I wouldn't want to. I'm just not entirely sure if the two filters I have now are suitable for my tank/stock list.

*I'm currently growing 3 out right now and will pick the best looking one and then either return the other two to my LFS or give them to someone in the local fish club; all 3 are juvies right now.

An estalished and properly setup FX5 will do a fantastic job with that tank and stock list!

And actually there are some on there for about $185-$190

I have 2 on my 180gallon. Both used. 1 for $50 and the other for $58...

Looks like I better pickup a FX5 and leave the XP3s on the tank as well.

Thinking about it, I prefer to use filters in pairs, so will then have to get two of the FX5s. Really had hoped that two of the XP3s would have been enough.

one FX5 will be fine on a 125. it's more than enough filter. only reason you would need any other filters on a tank that size is if it's SEVERELY overstocked.. and it doesn't look to me like yours is.

Yeah but I already own two of the XP3s...so this isn't a what would work best type of thing, but if my two XP3s are enough filtration for my 150g or not.

If they're enough then I'll stick with em, no need to throw money at new filtration if what I have can get the job done.

if i were you i will go with 2 xp3 cause fx5 known for stop running after a power outage or after stop to gas-out. 2 xp3 will do just fines, easier to clean and does a wonderful job. 2 filters always better than 1.
