Ok so my brother just got his first fish tank (20 gallon) and he has no idea what kind of fish he wants in it and he keeps changing his mind so we have ~2 weeks to decide on fish till the tank is cycled any ideas that would be entertaining for a 9 year old, The tank does have some live plants (3) cabomba and some rock decorations, the tank is a tropical tank any ideas and ill do a search and see if he sees any he likes

Thanks

If it were me i would get a breeding pair of the biggest convicts i could find. the size would be a plus, and i think that the convict parents taking care of fry would be very interesting for a 9 year old. Especially when they can say they have over a hundred fish in their tank :D

:iagree: Then when they get some size to them you can use them for feeders when your bro isn't looking...LOL

Neolamprologus multifaciatus

or

Endlers livebearer colony

Both are interesting in different ways easy to keep and prolific

lol i dont think he would like convicts cause i had a pair in a 30 gallon they ate feeders and he thinks they are bad fish so cons r out of the question

Dwarf cichlids, peacock gudgeons, dwarf pike cichlids, Butis Butis, or some small puffers would be good as a centerpiece. I have a feeling you'd have to help him out with the cichlids though.

LOL I used to have a 55G, and my Lil bro has a 20 G. He has 2 corys, 1 tetra, 2 kuhli loaches, 3 guppies, 4 mollies, 4 penguins, 3 zebra danios, 2 Glass Ghost Catfish, 1 Flying Fox, and 1 miniature gourami. They do fine, and they are an almost perfect tropical community set-up. If he's a violent little kid, though, you could just try getting some cichlids that would kill each other :) JK

Not sure how much room but what about rams? german show rams ? Im not familiar with them (I had a few but my eel thought they were talking crap so he ate them). I always coulda sworn puffers were brackish Ive been hearing different now so ya I duno. Glass fish are kinda cool cuz they are see through, and Im a lame for stuff like that. Or I agree with tetras like neon tetras look cool too
