Stock sounds fine, as long as your powerhead isn't to stirong it shouldn't matter much, just make sure you don't get micro bubbles

Noob here but what are micro bubbles? The little bubbles from too much flow?

Bubble usually made by filtration equipment,basically when you get tons of tiny bubbles shooting around your tank, it can kill darters
