I have a new 20" royal knife. I put him in my tank and bingo now he has cloudy eyes bad. i added some salt in my 300 gallon to help but what else should i do?

One eye is worse then the other. should i do a water change?

Cloudy eye is usually a sign of bad water quality. I'd do lots of water changes to start................

i did a normal amount like i do every month. my other fish are doing fine so i just dont know. i dont want to loose him.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but if you're doing water changes once every month... You should be doing them every week!

so i check my water and everything is fine. i did a water change yesterday and added some salt. why is his eyes still cloudy this morning?

Can you define "fine" please?
What are the parameters? Ph, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, water temp etc.
How often do you perform water changes, and how much water do you change out?
How mucn is "some" salt?
Where did the knife come from? Did you quarantine before adding to your tank?

all the parameters are normal levels. Ph is 6.0. Dont freak out over ph its been like that since ive owned my tanks. All my other fish are fine. I do a 25% water change once a month on all tanks. He is in the 300 i have. other fish in there are great. for salt i did one tablespoon for every 5 gallons. i only did for 200 gallons though. knife came from a friend and i did acclimate him. i put him in tank last nite at 4pm and he got cloudy eyes almost right away on one eye. now this morning he has both cloudy eyes. it looks like there gonna flake off his eyes. he is active still but i dont want too loose him.

PH drops will cause cloudy eye without a doubt. If that fish was used to water with a higher ph at your friends, and you put him in an acidic environment that he isn't used to, then his eyes will cloud up. You need to ask you friend what Ph he keeps his tank at. The fact that the eyes clouded up "almost right away on one eye" really points to water issues.

My Oscar had cloudy eyes until I buffered my pH with crushed coral.
