Def pros n cons... Nitrate levels get higher in i believe a wet dry setup then others... but since the wet dry has more water, the levels take longer to go out of wack.... theres def a bunch more pros n cons but ill let the tru pro's handle this!

Go wet dry. There is more space to have different media compartments, and you can even put a refugium in there to help control nitrates a little better. Canisters are easy to do, and fast, but can't stand against a w/d. Another pro to canisters is that you can have the heater down here, which removes the possibility of the wire severing and having stray electricity in the tank itself. When the filter floss needs to be cleaned a canister has to be shut down, unplugged, moved, opened, cleaned and then put back. W/D you can just pull the section that needs to be cleaned. W/Ds have much better oxygen diffusion inside itself, and an air bubbler is not necessary in the tank. Canisters cost a lot of money, and multiple ones will be needed for monsters. W/Ds can be built completely around your needs, and cost a fraction of the canisters.

damn the way that sounds i may have to set one up and remove my magnum 350!

If you feel comfortable enouff building a w/d than do it just keep in mind that if you do it wrong you could have bad consequences like if you don't have your over flow tunned right a power outage could happen and empty your tank on your floor canisters are good cause there self contained you don't have to worry is it gonna work is my over flow tunned is the return pump to strong or to weak the canister always works and its also easyer to clean just take it out side and hose it down most of the time w/d's are stuck under your tank so clean up can be a pain so basicly if you think you can build a efficient wet dry and tune it right than go for it but if ud wrather have a self contained system that's gurenteed to work out the box go woth the canister
