I voted for 1 because its the most natural looking photo, what I mean is that there is no blackened out background, and nothing that screams "photoshop" to me, but hey thats my two cents!

As the owner of the photo I say a big thanks! But in defence of the other pics mine was a completely instinctive shot, no flash at all, using the bubbles to provide the light and a real "hit and hope" shot. Some may call it a fluke. Pictures like chaitika's take unbelievable skill, dedication and practice as well as the correct gear. There is no fluke in those pics whatsoever. Each to their own, some prefer the lucky moment shot from an underdog and some appreciate the art form of genius.

Now if everyone could vote for me that'd be great!!! :grinno::grinno::grinno:

Thanks for saying that, Martin. :)

Other than owning and knowing where to position the external flashes it's no different, trust me. Plenty of 'fluke' involved when shooting fish, especially fish eating, regardless of gear and camera knowledge.

I went with #4 purely because the most effort was probably put into taking that shot. Getting two vacuums at the same time with perfect resolution. it's just too perfect. But #3 was creative, but anyone could have done it, it was not a "special" moment like #4 or #1. #2 was POTM worthy, but I think it just didn't have that "x" factor that the other 3 have. GL and may the best photo win!

Japes, you really seem intent on taking veiled potshots at my photo. I'm not sure why. The truth of the matter is that I have 7 or 8 more pics that are very close to the image above. I have done the very same thing with SEVERAL species of fish so its not as flukey as you want others to think.

Was hardly veiled, but you've still interpreted it incorrectly.

The fluke comment was aimed at fish not usually being perfect models which can often result in having to stalk them with the camera, but getting that kind of composition (which I'm not exactly a fan of, but I'll give it props for being razor sharp) with fish advancing on food is not as entirely skill based as you want others to think.

Honest truth? I'm a fan of your work, and I'm almost a little disappointed that this photograph is dominating so much more than your POTY shot from last year. Maybe it's not so much the photograph itself, but the cheap thrills too many members here get from seeing big predatory fish. Then again, at least it's not an Arowana.
