I could only wish to take pics as good as Gerry's... maybe if i had the equipment and heck of a lot of practice... but i must say, i did not vote on No.4 based on the Bass... to be honest, if it were any other fish in that shot, with the same composure etc, i'd definitely still vote 4...

was very tough going between 1 and 3

both were comical to me and just great timing.

Japes, you really seem intent on taking veiled potshots at my photo. I'm not sure why. The truth of the matter is that I have 7 or 8 more pics that are very close to the image above. I have done the very same thing with SEVERAL species of fish so its not as flukey as you want others to think.

Its really the timing and yes I agree its not a fluke- I think the reason your photos are badass looking is of your wise choice of using the dark background making it easier for the camera to capture the moment so much easier not to mess up the shot. Making the specimen pop out. There are so many times I have taken a photo of the pose but something else in the tank or background just royal screwed it up along with piss poor glass quality that one can sometimes see a scratch on / or my annoying digital camera making it a blur.

I bet if someone could freeze frame by frame in a video camera they would see that effect more often than what people think. Nature is just beautiful.
