life eh?! itll get in the way! LOL
ok finished the background the day after i posted last but then...... all ill say is be very aware about what Dr's are willing to prescribe......................
any way, final build update as the tank is now finished and hopefully the first fish will be going in tomorrow? maybe monday!
the background went on fine. made it out of polystyrene silliconed to 2 of the sides. drew rough rock shapes and then got out the steak knife and carved away! ive gone for a fairly flat design because i do not want to lose any water space! (and i couldnt be arsed)
the fill test went well! no leaks at all!
the sump unfortunately didnt go so well. not having worked on a ply before cost me a leak! i tried to fix it but didnt work! (i didnt think it would!) i was gonna just build another but i kinda figured that i can buy a 3ft tank off Ebay for cheaper than i can make so thats what i did! £15. bargain. made a couple of dividers out of acrylic. job done. its not perfect but cash is a little tight at the mo so.....
i then had a few issues with the sealing of the bulk heads. yes, they work perfectly on glass. fibre glass....not so. weve had a few puddles! sillicone gaskets and on the thread sorted that no probs.
ive built a lid out of MDF....coated in epoxy. its on hinges. and there is a feeding lid...on the lid! acrylic was used as the window for the light!
had to redo the return plumbing as, having never used a pump this powerful, the push to fit connectors were breaching.....weve had a few puddles! LOL
im trying a new system for the sump! im using scrubbies as a fludized bed.
well technically this was all a couple of weks ago! ive been soaking a very large piece of bogwood for the last 2 weeks. no where else to soak it! its still floating, but its clean now LOL
right pictures if i can suss my new phone!
