So is this just tritons wetsuit glue?

I can understand why they only sell to professional applicators cause the stuff is toxic as all hell.

Its not a glue, its a waterproofing compound. Check out the link. It contains no VOC's, and can easily be applied by anyone (with the right equipment).

From the website (1-part wetsuit):

I was reading through the info on 1-part Wetsuit, and came across this:

Are you only going to use 60 mil dry, or did you apply it thicker than that?

I am only going 60mil because I think that will be good for this application. I don't think the thickness quoted from the site includes fabric reinforcement, which makes it much stronger. You could do one more coat past what I did and get about 80mils but I don't think it is necessary when using the fabric.

I am guessing the reason it is only sold to certified applicators is because it is a new product for the industry and the company does not want a bunch of idiots going around spraying it all over roofs without knowing proper application procedures. That would be a good way to acquire a bad reputation on a good product.

Plus, it needs specialized sprayers so that the product doesn't gum up the spray guns as soon as they start using it. Until more contractors know what they need to apply this material, it makes more sense to limit the sources of availability.

Ok, I still don't see any way to buy this from Triton. They sure don't make it easy.

I met with the owner of Triton again today and what he wants to do is put together different packages. These are the only packages that they will be offering at this time. If you would like to comment and suggest another package option, please feel free to do so here and I will pass on the suggestions. Unfortunately, the color coating is not going to be available for awhile, as there is more testing being done before it is released.

Note: when using the fabric, I got more coverage (about 25sqft/gallon@60mil) than the website says (18sqft/gallon@60mil). So my estimations below are based on my experience and will vary depending on actual dimensions. They are just estimates to give you an idea of the package you might need for your tank. If you have any questions about your specific tank build, just let me know and I can help you figure out what you would need.

I noticed on the Triton website, in the changing head bar there is a pic of a large koi pond build with Wetsuit in Australia. The pic actually does not show much of the ponds size. It is a pretty big pond. I have pics of them spraying Wetsuit in that pond.

For one, the prices he just listed include shipping charges, as well as a roll of Invisilink fabric. So obviously the price is going to be a bit more than you would expect the product to cost.

Yes, the price includes shipping and the reinforcement fabric. The main reason the prices changed is, they will be shipping smaller quantities of the Wetsuit products to the warehouse for the tank application. So the cost has gone up for the supplier. The prices I was quoting before was the price to Certified Applicators for roofing applications, were very large quantities are being purchased. If you would like to purchase 10 or more 5 gallon buckets or a 55 gallon drum, I am sure you will get a better price.

I believe it is still cheaper than the other options, and all around better IMHO.

It seems to be in a similar price range to other methods, but not cheaper. We will see how durable it turns out to be - I have high hopes but I think it might be a bit early to say it's better.

FWIW a gallon of Zavlar is $49CAD at home hardware stores - but this is only helpful if you live in Canada.
