2010 RTC Growing Contest

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My little 3.5" RTC had gill curl..... did 50% water changes daily with good food and less than a week later its unnoticable. Trimming it while their young would be too stressful I would think.

the person who feeds massivore will win!

In my experience, just cuz it's an expensive food, doesn't mean its the best. ;) We shall see...:D

I used to feed mine massivore but I get all my big cats on tilipia fillets. U would go broke trying to keep up with them on massivore

I agree worms are basically just as good, as with fishing lure, the most expensive food (lure) doesnt always grow the biggest fish (catch the biggest fish)

Me and a few other members have decided to see who can raise there RTCs to 2' first. This contest will require weekly updates on size, what you are feeding, tank size/pond size, and a picture of the RTC of course. Whoever gets to 2' first will be named "2010 RTC Growing Contest Champion" with 2x runner up spots. Prize? Infinite glory of knowing you have the best way of growing big RTCs.

Contestees are:

Diskboy12 (Me)
Mqktandy
Deep Blue Sea
and lastly
Dragonsong

I will be first to document mine.

Purchased 6-26-2010 at 3.75"
currently 4.5"+
Diet: Tilapia, Earthworms
Name: Morris :)

I'm still trying to figure out why and the purpose of this contest? Seems like the RTC’s extraordinary growth rate is never in question?

RTC's are a great fish wish someone would breed a miniature version.. Because almost everybody that buys one never has the facilities to take care of a mature RTC and most die in small cramped qtrs or dumped in a neighbor’s pond?
