No, I got him from a LFS, and I think that it used to be Ryans (cichlaryan).
hmm interesting. i wonder what other people's peru monos that came from snookn look like. these dont look like my first mono when he was that size. he had 3 short bars and black splotches at this size, kinda like yours.

the long stripes make me think ocell, but then they also show the horizontal markings sometimes too. who knows, gotta give them some more time.

thanks guys for the feedback

Ya, good luck with them. I got some flaring shots today with my suckish camera. No time to get the DSLR out when I only have 2 minutes of fights.

I wanna get some Venezuelan orinos now for my next growouts.

gotta keep that thing handy at all times!!!! venezuelan/colombian, they all the same really, all come from the orinoco. from what ive seen even fish from the same collection point look very different so i wouldnt obsess over countries when it comes to orinos ;)

ya, I like the different spangling they have. Mine have spots, and I see other orinos with solid gold horizontal bars along their spots/ black stripes.

The pics I took are still pretty good, some just have glare.

BTW, the camera is not mine. It is my moms buisness.

ok yeah it's really hard to say, and theres no way of predicting. with most cichla, youll have a good idea of what theyll look like when they grow up. with orinos, its a total gamble. they can be bright green to olive green to even a drab brownish yellow. they can have round markings, diamond markings, red lower fins, blue/green lower fins, blue dorsal, or clear/black dorsal.

you really dont know what youre gonna get. i will tell you this though, my rio negro orinos are already looking waaaay greener than the rio meta that i have and theyre both the same size.

i've owned a lot of orinos and ive sold lots of them as i find others that looks better. and that is where im currently at with my collection of orinos. always on the lookout for the greenest/bluest ones i can find :) i made a thread a while back about orino coloration, ill look for the link.

in the meantime, heres an adult rio meta that rapps is currently selling. maybe just the pic, but he looks to be more on the golden-yellow side. who knows
