just got hold of 2 bags of black sand today and just finished putting theminto my A growout tank, thinking that it would intensify their colours more. prior to the new change in substrate the tank wasbare bottom'and the light would reflect fromunderneith the fish and it did look amazing (as shown in the photo's in the previous pages. . . an hour later after putting in the new black sand allmy fish looks darker and colour has saturated. pearsei almost grey/charcoal and argenteas grey. . . hmmm will they color up? or is this the downside of having black sand?

I used to have my Argentea on black sand but have since switched to pool filter sand. Personally I like their colors on lighter sand.

. . . decided to remove blacksand on my next eaterchange and go back to bare bottom. too much poo is standing on the sand surface and is hard to remove. plus the fish seems more confident and colours intense when i had mine in bare bottom. sorry fish for the disruption. i really am.

yeah. they are nice and my all time favourite cichlid. is that a blue acara in one of your photo's? im after them and havent seen any around since i was 10.
