You could have a black rhom for a while in there. Get em at about an inch and you should be able to keep em for like 2-3 years in there!!! Just thought I'd throw it out there!
Not in Hawaii

i know this is a fish forum, but i got a 20 gallon that i have a neat little baby painter turtle in. it is quite interesting to watch as well. all you would need is a floating dock for him to put in the tank and you would be set to go. you could even add a few fish. i would suggest some tiger barbs. about 5 or 6 there fun to watch as well. turtles arent not real rapid growing creatures from my experience keeping them. you would be able to keep him in there for at least a year or two. just a sugestion. . . . . :headbang2

im not much of a turtle guy. but someday i will have a FRT....in a massive tank!

if you really really want a ]v[onster you MAY be able to push it to a centipede knife, but you would definatly not be able to fit anything else in there, you'd have to keep up on the maintenence and buy it small,
Done my homework:)

go with cons. FM are good too, but you can probably keep a pair of cons in a 20g long. its not exactly ideal volume but keep up with the water changes, and its not really that bad.

Why dont you just get 2 female convicts? Then you dont have to worry about the fry and they dont get as big as the males.
