210 CA Stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No offense to those that like dovii but they’re pretty common in the hobby, maybe since I’m at the near death age of 52 I don’t want to keep common fish any longer. I only have 4 7ft tanks so that also affects my choices. I don’t need endangered species obviously just something a little different. There is the genus Caquetaia such as kraussii or spectabilis that are available.

I'm all for keeping uncommon species especially when available. You guys down south have a lot more available than I do, I'm a lot jealous by the way lol. Oh and as far as near death age I'll be 54 tomorrow 🤣

Just wondering how they would hold up with a jag
I would think they'd be fine if bought at the same time and close to the same size. It also depends on the temperament of the individual too. I once had an Oscar so mean he destroyed anything put in with him. The 210 is a 6 foot tank I assume? That's quite a bit of room for them to grow up together in. Of course you'd still have to keep an eye on things.

Yea 6ft. Was gonna go for the 180 and found out aqueon don't make a 180 anymore

I have a male parachromis multifaciatus at 8 inches right now as I've rehomed the female due to his aggression building up towards her. Maybe build something around but since removing that female, his skittish ways of hiding have gotten to its peak.
I find skittish/shy cichlids can usually be made more comfortable with overhanging decor like manzanita branches, plants (real or false) in the upper half of the tank, dim lights, and dither fish. For a parachromis, dithers would be other cichlids like convicts. The instincts for these fish are to hide from the open water at the top to avoid predation from birds. If you don't have much decor going on in the top half of the tank, have pretty bright lights, or have him alone in the tank, I'd give these things a shot.

Haven't tried convicts as it's a pain to find some at a descent size. Even with all the long tall fake plants still wouldn't come out. I'll get him back in his feet, I mean fins, soon.
