22" hoplias Aimara and self bred H.Malabaricus

Hey guys my name is Phil i'm 21yr's old and from Wolfsburg Germany.

I have a 660gal 240x130x80cm Tank with an 22" VZ Hoplias Aimara and 400x Neontetra.

And also i have a pair of H.Malabaricus with 3 Months old own bred.

I've seen some of your YouTube vids. Question, does your setup have an overflow with the Aimara?

Great looking tank for the aimara. How is its behavior (outgoing, shy, skittish, etc)?

Hey guys,
the Aimara is very agressiv and absolutely not shy. He come straight to the front of the tank when he see me or anyone else.

The different between the pair is only the size. The male is much smaller than the female. On the one Pic you can see the male on the left and the female on the right.

No the Aimara tank have 2 HMF Filtrations with Tunze 3000l/h on every back corner.

Nice, I was curious what was in the corner and how you keep the tetras from going down the overflow, but it makes sense now

I just picked up a VZ Aimara 5 days ago.

What size did you get him at?
Do you know the location point?
How is the growth rate?

@West1 i get him with ca.50-53cm on August 2014 now he has 55cm. No the only information i can get from the Seller was that he is an Columbian Import. I think at this size the growth rate was very slow but we will see what the time brings

On this Friday i get 20x Anostomus Ternetzi to try another community with the aimara. They are about 4-5cm. So on Saturday i catch him out and get into the tank for cleaning the glass from inside and plant some vallisneria gigantea and add the anostomus. And then we will see what he is doing with the Anostomus. Hopefully nothing

Very nice, I hope it works with the Anostomus Ternetzi. I was thinking about trying Roseline barbs once I get my Aimara to eat shrimp and massivore. Must be fun to catch a 22" aimara in a fish tank

All my Hoplias eat death frost foot even my bred.
I like the Densionii but i want a south american tank and the roseline barbs are from asia

Oh man i'm scared of that don't want to catch him on saturday
