220 Gallon Full Reef Build Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Happy nems are usually stationary nems...mine hasnt moved from where I plopped him. Grown, yes. Moved, no.

It is something that I would add on early though, so it can get settled somewhere and you can work around it.

I actually wanted to get one onto an aquamag so I could isolate it completely, but didnt get the chance.

Lookin forward to watching progress.

if you do the yellow tangs i would add them a while after all your other fish. yellow tangs have cuased more deaths in my tanks than any other fish. including powder blues
not many people ever mention it

Thanks for the info, I was planning on adding the tangs all together and last due to their aggression. I should have the pumps and sand next week, at which point I will build the sump and get everything ready for water.

i hear convict tangs do great in schools and the are pretty cool.
that might be a sub to the yellow tang s

I would say skip the MH especially at those prices you can get AI led lights for about the same price which are a far superior light. Plus the will pay for themselves in electricity and bulb replacement cost in a years. Check out aquailluminations.com. I run them on my reef and will never use a different type of light

Also my company builds reactors that remove phosphates and nitrates for marine tanks. And phosphates are just as harmful for sps as they are to lps and softies

The convicts are nice, and they do school. But convicts and powder blues (If I decide to get one) are natural enemies. Don't know how it would play out in a home aquarium. Haha
