2300 gallon fish room work in progress.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Kinda a big one, I plumbed the 8x4x3 last week and had it running till now, today I added the fish !! all looks very good I have a short video not the best and a lot of pictures. I like to measure the fish every so often if I am moving them figured id attempt to photograph them all, theres 1 or 2 doubles but mainly single shot of each fish. the baby dovii have grown 80mm in the past month ;o

stuffed the returns up also, figured the 16000lph laguna would be quite strong so I made 2 lines with 3 outlets each but its not coming out very strong might try a locoline or reducing it.

The one picture of the red devil near the pipe was here guarding her fry she refused to move no matter what I did. felt quite mean moving her.

beautiful.just imagine black background, black sand and some drift wood, it will look fabulous.

Thanks man, I have been considering black tiles but worried about the sunlight reflection on them. No background on this tank its prefect can sit outside and view the fish from the glass window and can sit inside and view outside which will be great once I get my pond in as it will be sitting right behind the tank with a window above ground.

+ the sunlight is good for the fish colors I am told?

driftwood is a must but, I have a bathtub full but still leeching =(

I feel like buying another big tank already hmm lol. stuff the fish I just need the glass baha xD

Well haven't done much with the extension yet, tradies down here are extremely lazy and slow lol plus half of them just waste your time! could slap a few...Got the slabbed poured which I did with a friend now I have to wait so... I started digging the pond today! did not get much done as where the soil is going needs some support behind it before digging more.

Dimensions are 4.5m L x 3.5M W going to aim for 2M deep but will see, spent 3 hours today and got the overall size dug out @ 45cm deep (ruffly)

Now I just need to decide on a liner or cement / cinder block. The blocks look nicer but I have little clue how to do it! Anyway a picture. saving the extensions ones for when its done =P

Some how I will turn the soil into a water fall / pot plant, thinking cinder blocks in front or a bamboo looking thing :nilly: Also used to be a big gum tree right in the middle of the so called pond so you can imagine the joys pulling those roots out!

Thanks David n Pole.

Yes and no? its going to have solar heating like our pool, which works great but during winter it gets to cold here for anything tropical I guess.

Koi are banned so I will be using special comet gold fish :D during summer times will throw the red tail out and a few other monster fish, if the goldies are still small most likely summer time all the little cichlids will go out till I feel the goldies are a safe size.

I want to keep digging but theres no where to put the soil arggghhh!!!

Very nice, is that the big tank you were talking about or are you building another larger plywood tank in the fish room? Just chuck the cichlids in the pool over summer ahaha. Is the pool chlorine or salt?

Plywoods will go in the extension if we go down that path haha. Pools got chlorine plus that automatic vacuum thing on wheels I can see a dovii chasing that haha. One day that pool will be mine for a black tip with coral :D

I was thinking of adding a window to the pond as I have lots of spare glass laying around but I believe theres no way to do it with a liner so Id have to cinder block which is looking quite confusing haha.
