Amazing tank!
Listen to my suggestion and you will have a balanced tank as far as color and behaviour go for a long time.
10 Yellow labs peaceful fish- find a good, clean strain from a good source.
10 Aceis yellow tail ( purple)- Will swim in schools in that tank all the time. Peaceful fish.
10 Metriaclima Calainos (light blue) for that mbuna look that you want.
10 Copadichromis Borley croc. rocks ( 3 males - 7 females) males are Bright RED when mature. They will have space to school in your tank . Peaceful fish in a big tank like that will look great.
15 Placidochromis Phenochilus Tanzania- The most peaceful african cichlid IMO. Males are Blue with white spots(awesome). Go with 5 big males or more and 10 females.
05 Exochromis Anagenys Yellow (Predatorial Hap. but not overly agressive like most others like venustus, etc..) I would go with 1 male and 4 females. Males turn purple and females are yellow/gold and gorgeus. They will also control the mbuna(no hybridization) and the other hap s population pretty well.
You should have a balanced 1000 gallon with all the 60 fish above.
You will also need big rocks IMO since small rocks wont do anything for that monster of a tank.
As far as diet goes feed a quality flake mix of spirulina and regular ones and you will enjoy the setup for a long time.
