My 24" Arowana hasnt eaten since i got him 8 days ago. He wont eat anything. Pellets, Live mice or frozen mice. Not even feeders. The arowana does this werid think like he opens his mouth and its almost like he is gagging. He does it every now and then. He seems fine. Very active in the tank. What could cause this? I was told his diet was jump pettlets.

maybe oxygen or water parameter

so i should get bigger air stones and a bigger air pump?

So the aro is no longer in the 300g tank?

What is a "jump pellet"?

When I adopted one of my silvers at 21" it took about 3 weeks to get him to eat normally.

I have had my arrow for 2 months and for the first week, it was like bring home a new born baby. I had to monitor the fish closely. Once I released him into his new home, he rushed to a corner and hid for the entire evening. My arrow is 6 inches long and his tank mates are a large pleco and 2 three inch oscars. I fed the tank the first night and the arrow never came out to eat. He came out the next day and did eat and has now found his place in the tank. it might take a little time . . . I'll pray for you . . . 8 days is plenty . . .

8 days is nothing, there are many here on MFK that have seen there large silver go for a month without eating, so no need to worry yet.

The adult male silver is said to carry eggs/fry in his mouth for 30 days without eating.

Why do arowanas do that???
the first thing mine did was eat when he came home. I got mine at 3.5" and these are all bigger. would size be the answer to my question?

keep your lights turned off its probably stressed
