Bderick67, there is plenty of commentary in the previous postings about how "happy" the fish will be in a 30", over a 24", with nothing more than opinion based on ascribing human notions/feeings to a fish. One person said "a fish that will hate you...".

Not in this thread, the brand new OP asked valid questions and stated he didn't want to make any mistakes. He has not purchased the tank yet so convincing him to go bigger if possible appears to be a good idea, right? No one responded with the nonsense you described. The only remotely bad post previous to yours came from an obviously inexperience keeper as to the reason for the 30" width was for room to turn around.

And seriously, for someone with "Sorry for the sarcasm" in their sig, you took that all rather hard lol. That was a tongue-in-cheek comment pointing out how ridiculous our debates over minute differences in tank size are, when compared with what the animal actually lives in. Sorry if I offended, it wasn't directed at you.

You consider 25% as being minute? Offend?...No. Surprised?...Yes.

maybe a 300 gallon 96 x 30 x 24 will suffice then there goes my budget!!! as for my other questions its still have been left unanswered. am looking at what will $2000.00 go as far as setting up a low cost presentable and yet aesthetically pleasing aro tank.

Well, I deserved that, appears apologies are due...it was in another aro thread with the "fish will hate you" comment and such, I just looked. Sorry guys, I am guilty of confusing/subscribing multiple threads at once...

If you make a Wet Dry Filter by your self you can save lots of money. You probably spent no more that 200 usd for all.

- tank ~50 gal / - 30 usd on craiglist
- media - 50 usd
- pump - 100 usd
- other - 20 usd

And you will have much better filter than Ehaim 3 Pro, much easier to maintance and cleaning.

If you will order tank, is good to order tank that is adapted to wet/dry filter.

Go to youtube or dearch on google, you will find lots of interesting project, how to make it.

I have MegaFlow 4 Wet/Dry Filter and now I know that I'm able to make much better.

Good Luck !

glasscages.com sells a 300 (96 x 25 ½ x 30 ½) for $1400. Thats a little bigger than my 260. Here is an old pic of mine.

sorry to bud in but

my tanks is 6 ft long and 27 wide is that ok for life with a silver arow

Depends on what your definition of "life" is. We have a member here with a 7 year old 33" silver aro in a 6x2x2' tank. So it is possible, IMO though your tank will become to cramped once the aro gets to be over 24".

I got my tank from a Canadian company called Inter-American Pet Supply about 15 years ago. I have read they are called Bow Valley Aquarium now but I can't find much info about them. I don't recal what I paid but the service was fine. Everything arrived packaged well and on time. The tank I got is 260 gallons (96x24x26). I have not done business with Glasscages so I can't tell you about them but the prices on their website look reasonable.
