250lt Green Terror tank??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As in terms of personality, I found my acara to be very socialable model citizen. I find most cichlids to form bonds with the owner weather it be for just food or acknowledging that you care for them. They aren't shy fish and they generally don't bully other fish but they can hold their own in disputes very similar to severum temperament. Blue acaras are nice in their own right but personally I prefer green terrors colors and markings to be more vibrant

Have you considered a blue acara?
They max out at about 8 inches and look similar to a JD. I don't know much about their personality though, maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

I've seen blue acara's before hadn't really considered them thought they maxed out about 5 inches. Will definitely do some research on them. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thinking about the tank dimensions any of those 12" TL fish are probably not going to work. Maybe a 75g and up might be better for only one solo fish.
There are better alternatives but some are harder to find. Like h. Deppi.
But what about a nic pair, or salvini? Gorgeous fish with personality IME.
Agree with you .. a Salvini pair would be gorgeous.....

Ok so I think I've narrowed down my choices to either

A GT and I few tetras until the GT is fully grown.

Or

1 severum, 1 blue acara and a school of tetras/barbs. Possibly a pleco of some sort if they would all fit.

How do they sound?

I agree that salvini's are beautiful fish and pair would be nice but not sure on the availability in the uk. Never seen any before and all the other end a review readily available.

To put it into perspective, I have a green terror, red terror, EBJD, Jag, JD, oscar, vieja argenta, vieja fenestratus and a salvini in the same tank and they get on like a house on fire! Once in a while the oscar likes to wind up the jag, but they just yawn at each other for a few mins then it's over with.

If you observe your tanks the way you should, you shouldn't have an issue. Just have to be prepared to move a fish if an issue occurs!

The GT and tetras would be my choice.

The 2nd choice will make your tank overstocked when the fish are fully grown.

I'm from the UK, i don't remember ever seeing Salvini's for sale in my LFS's, but i've seen a few on the Facebook for sale groups.

Also from the UK, you need good contacts to get the rarer fish, LFS's only ever have the usual common crap!

My Vote is for gt and few tetras .... and be ready to upgrade in couple of yrs

What are some good schooling fish choices to go with a GT? Tiger barbs? Gold barbs? Black skirt tetras?
