2600 gallon 'pool' pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats going to look good when you get it done. don't listen to some of the haters.

15' diameter by 3 ft tall?

pie x 7.5^2 = 176.625 square feet surface area multiplied by a height of 3ft comes to 529.875 cubic feet. x 7.5 for gallons = 3974.0625 gallons filled to the brim.

Intex typically calculates their gallons at 70% fill, so if you do manage to get it in the ground you'd probablly be able to fill it close to the brim. giving you an extra 1000 gallons. not bad.

keep up the good work, I still need to update my pond thread tonight with some pics of my progress. I agree digging with alittle one at home is hard. (my little girl is 7 mos old)

I want mine above ground. I'm just digging to level the ground.

Wow, our daughters are close, mine was born 4/24. Even if I take her out back with me she gets cranky seeing me work.

if I can mange to wear her on the front pack she lets me work, but not if I'm just holding her. And really I've found no productive way to dig with her strapped on lol.

Ugh... more rain. It looks like I may be going back to school for a new job career (@ age 43 ... ugh!)

My leveling of the ground will be delayed for a little longer. Also I had laser done on my eye the other day so no progress at all in the last week.

I did go buy a 45gal tub to replace the 15 gal since it's going to take longer. Since it was a $14 walmart cheap tub. It did bow out in the middle on both sides as the water is too much pressure. I'd say maybe 41 actual galllons of water in it(I didn't fill it all the way).

If I were uid get a outdoor/indoor heater, and then fill up the tank with hardy fish like pbass, pacu, big cats. etc... That would be ligit. Stcoklist like this

3 Temensis
4 Red pacu
1 rtc
1 firewood cat
1 piraiba

Seems easier this route as it's raining again. It was easy to dig up the higher part, it seems hard to level it without overdigging the slightly new raised part

Ugh!!!!! Update!

About a week ago it looked like I finally leveled the ground by eyesight and the way it rained on it(only a few small puddles in the middle).

So I moved the pool over the spot and started filling. The first 2 inches looked good and even all around, then suddenly it pulled to what originally started as the low spot but should have become a slightly high spot(as I left more dirt there). So I tried to fix it on the spot by pulling up the side and putting dirt there. The low spot moved somewhere else, so I pulled it up and put dirt there. Now it's returned to the same spot I fixed the first time.

I'm now starting to wonder if it's worth it. I'm still fighting this d*mn cold weather and rain every 4-5 days. My wife wants to go on vacation for a month in May which limits my time as I really want to watch it for at least 2 months before leaving it in the hands of my mother as all she can/will do is put food in it.
