large w/c daily is a common practice among discuss keepers due to the fragile nature of the fish. several mfker's do up to 90% daily for their discus setups. And for those that do, not all of them simply let it go down the drain, tank water is very useful in the garden. So while it may seem like alot for a w/c if you've got a yard, you'll easliy negate any waste.

All our drains are hooked up to a grey water system so yes good point, the water won't be "wasted" it will be treated and reused to water the garden and wash the car.

I would love to see the plans! :D

If you need extra bio filtration ( of course depending on the space ) add an AC70 to each of the sump tanks. They will be hidden and you will get that extra bio filter. But honestly, the way it sounds, you'll have plenty of bio filtration already...

Plans are quite large and extensive (as I said I've had a LONG hard think about this problem). They are approx A3 size on screen (I have a 24" monitor and have trouble fitting them on screen at 85%) so bare with me while I think about how to show them here, I wasn't planning on showing them to anyone except myself. I'll probably start a new thread soon.

I don't see how AC70's can do anymore bio filtration over a 6ft tank stuffed full of bio filter material with 1500g/h flowing through it?? Am i missing something? Sechem Matrix, Pot Scrubbers, ceramic noodles, bioballs, you name it, it'll be in there!

an ac70 adds almost nothing when you've already got 20 gallons of biomedia
