they do look very similar.. but it came from a highly reputable source its shocking... so do fogos loose these spots as they become mature and gain the red? or something else? i have alot of questions..

red only comes out when spawning

Really? Hahhahaha.... Tell ur source to chime in!
I guess that's a short body fogo... (rare) hahhahah....

Fogo coloration/Markings have been discussed on several threads. Almost every Fogo pic has been of adults...Smallest I can recall is 12-14". They all look like Orino's with varying degrees of green - brownish coloration, and the strong red. One can only assume at this point, those with the the intense red are in breeding form.

Problem is no one has really shown Fogo at smaller sizes, so we don't know what to base it off of. Especially considering how many variances there are in Orino sp. alone.

I hypothesize the Red is there at a younger size (10"), but not a intense as one would think. Body shape seems consistent with many of the photo's I've seen.

How about we get a Fogo Pic thread going like the one JCardona did with Orino's. Much easier if we cann get all pics to compare in one spot.

Seichii chiming in would be great considering what he's housing ;)
