27 YEAR OLD IRIDESCENT SHARK????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's quite possible...I had someone bring me a 12 year old Emperor ID that was about 14" long...it had been kept in a 30 gallon. Of course it looked like it had been dead for years already...the people honestly had no idea there was anything wrong with it.

Growth rate varies on availibilty of resources & water changes. Fish have hormones that if these hormones build up in a given space the fish growth slows down. if there were not mant water changes during the first 5-7 years this fish may have inadvertently stopped growing at the rate it should have been. the owner must not have fed it often & did few water changes if it is truly that age & size. I may not be that old but who knows.

I have 2 Pangasius Catfish (Iridescent Sharks). There official name is Pangasius hypophthalmus. They are catfish that somewhat look like sharks. They are very large. I have had the oldest one for 18 years. He is 27 years old and is approx 20 inches long. The other one is approx 12 years old and is about 8 inches long. I have them in a 125 gallon tank. They are in excellent health. They are my pets and I want them to go to a good home. I would be willing to trade for anything of value.
2 fish:

had the oldest one for 18 years. he is 27 years old and is 20 inches long

the other one is approx 12 years old and is about 8 inches long

how did the guy know that it's 27 years old when he had it for 18 years? kinda extreme but eh IDs do get large if I'm not mistaken.

okay so would you try this on a 2'' RTC in a 20g and get back to us in a year to confirm that comment is more likely to be true than a myth.

I don't believe in that theory myself as I've seen whoppers in 20g-30g-55g-75g- from very cute little weeny fish to a monster fish because they thought it'll stay small forever.

it is possible..and this is not the first case actually..this has happened to id sharks on a number of occasion.but the ones in this picture are paroon sharks

@proteus: how the guy knew its 27 years? Asnwer: he has kept if for 18 years and the guy he got it from might have kept it for 11 years simple as that.
