I needed a new bulb for an old mini CFL. The old bulb is 9w/6500K, but I can't seem to find that anywhere. The only one I've been able to find that will fit is a 9w/2700K. I'm using it for a 2.5g with some HC. I know it's a bit low, but do you think it will work?

Totally wrong spectrum. Look for a reptile 2.0 bulb. That is typically going to be 6500-6700K.

You'd be surprised! I just went to 2 lfs, Lowes, and a light bulb store! None of them have the right spectrum. Even looking online seems to be difficult finding it...ugh.

Is the fixture a narrow fixture? If not, then just use this.

So...after all that searching today, I found it online AND it's on the site I normally do my fish supply shopping too...why didn't I just go there first?:irked: I guess I was hoping to actually get it today. Maybe I'll just order it, but then I have to wait a couple of weeks...ugh.

always the way :)
would you mind posting some pics of your tank :)

Normal household CFL bulbs in natural day light or cool blue usually run about 6000k and work fine. You could find them anywhere at a fraction of the cost of specialty bulbs.
