I have a few more questions.
Can I use water, filter media, rocks, etc... from my turtle tank to help my new tank cycle faster?
Also should I put in my diy co2 generator in while cycling my tank?
k. no to the soil because the africans dig and it will jack up your sand. you want hard water for africans. so yes to crushed coral or limestone to increase ph. acidic things will decrease your ph. and just do a fishless cycle to make cycling faster.
to find info on fishless cycles look here https://www.google.com/
I got the tank mostly setup. I still need sand and plants. I put a few rocks I had in but I need more, what should i put in....slate? Should I put in a clay pot idk because it lowers ph.
I got back from the pet store and the guy tested my water. He said I have no ammonia, a little bit or nitrite, and some nitrate. I also forgot to mention that I got some filter media from a planted tank in one of the science room in my high school. I will wait another week though
Here is a picture of what the tank looks like now, I still need sand and plants.
Note the canopy is temporary, I plan on making an acrylic canopy later.
