Im building a sump anyway as the tank has holes in the back so instead of having a pump to get the return i will just use the 2 fx5's to do the job, maybe get a T-peice to join the 2 outlet tubes for a maximum flow back into the tank :D

This wont work unless the filter is well below the sump. Canisters need to be placed a couple feet below the intake to run properly.

Yeah i have thought about that and i have room behind the tank to buil a ledge for the sump then that way the filter can go underneath the sump :D

I was planning a double 4ft sump but changed my mind again ;) as i seem to be doing alot these days

Ive set both of these filters up seperatly just to test them and get them up and running and ive noticed that 1 of them is running diff to the other, the inlet on 1 is sucking the water and the inlet on the other is pushing the water out ??????????????

This has me very confused :( can any1 help with this or does any1 know why they are running diff?

I would run them seperate seems redundant and like it would cut down ultimate flow. That is Just my thoughts on it. You sure are THINKING monster though :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

It would probably be better to space them out too given your using two FX5's its probably a pretty long tank.

IF you SEARCH you will find the answer and that answer is.... NO DON'T DO IT!

Twice as much power consumption for the same flow as one filter. Mechanical media would be useless in the 2nd Fx5. Purging may also be affected.

So water is coming out of the intake and water is coming in through the output?

How bout just switch the intake/outake

Sounds like you got the hoses swapped. Right on the canisters lid, near the hose connections, it says, IN and OUT.

There is 2 running (seperatly) on 1 the intake is sucking water from the tank and on the other the intake is pushing water back into the tank, no matter how much i swap the hoses this is still the case, aint got a clue why they are doing this but it seems to be working just not sure if it will affect the way the filters work properly!!!!!!, The in and out on the filters is what made me realise that they are running in opposites, ive tried swapping hoses for a long time last night with no luck they still run the same so basicly the in is in on 1 and the in is out on the other:confused:

And yeah its 8ft long but i have 1 on the 8ft and another on a 5ft :D

This just came to me right now, maybe 1 of the lids is on the wrong way around so does the intake suck water from the tank or push it back into the tank?

The cover can only go on one way. Sounds like you are running them together? Keep them separate. IF you take the cover of the canister off, the plastic tube that is standing straight up from the bottom of the canister at the pump is the OUTPUT.

The only way your Fx5 could pump backwards is if the impeller spun backwards and I don't think that is possible..
