30 gallon Firemouth mini-biotope

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh and no need to up the PH for firemouth.

Works for me. You'll get the best colors from them since they come from waters that have a higher ph. I try to duplicate their natural habitat as much as I can. Plus you don't know what the tap ph is. I test mine regularly. Sometimes it is around 6.5:(

My Tank... 50 gallons with the 7" male FM

Sorry, yes its the same as that other 30 gallon thing guys... and I was thinking of it this way.

30 gallon biotope with a single firemouth and a few platies/swordtails. How many would you guys recommend?

The tank size is 50 cm x 50 cm x 50 cm.

Its volume is actually 32 gallons, but minus the decor and substrate, I reckon it would only reach 30 gallons of water.

Also, would like some suggestions of plants to put in the tank.

Yeah I've seen those, I am going to use what I have to create that 'biotope'. It wouldn't really be a 100 % accurate biotope, but I will try my best. I was thinking... sandy substrate with river cobbles, and a few pebbles, some santigi wood, a bit of rock, with either Nymphae or maybe some Vallisneria to recreate a part of the Whitewater Lagoon in Belize. ANy thoughts on this?
