Nope...silicone does not stick to slate.

The slate bottom is a fun feature, but it gets covered up with gravel anyway. I was more interested in having a functional aquarium. I don't think that these things are valuable enough to keep around empty as antiques.

i resealed mine with silicone. holds fine.

Maybe we used different products. I tested with the GE Type I silicone and it just peeled right off.

I really like the concept behind those planters. I can't believe how nice that metalframe tank looks. Some guy here in MN has 4 in his basement that are fully planted.
