My additional 2 cents.

My homeowners insurance doesn't specifically cover my fish tanks either but it does cover damage caused by anything in the home. Which does include if a tank breaks and damages stuff in the house.

True. I asked my insurance agent when I got the 585 home what I would be covered under if the tank broke. I was told the tank itself would not be covered b/c it would be deemed a manufacturers defect BUT everything that was damaged by the water would be covered.

I also did find that my insurance would at least cover the loss of the tank and fish if there were to be a natural disaster. Say a tornado hit or my house caught on fire. I can't exactly save the fish or the tank. So then they would cover the loss of "pets" b/c there was no way to safely remove them.
