  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
incredible. I just set up a 180gal and though it was cool. Now i already want a new tank. hahaha

Thanks so much! I just setup a new 135 mbuna and my daughter asked why the tank was so small lol. I feel your pain.

Hi,

Great tank and thread.....Nice setup and hardware/software...

The open frame stand design works well as you can 'skin' it in many ways....

It must stink in a way to have a nice tank (not to mention family) but you travel so much...

I guess the webcam can be a poor substitute :)

As an FYI, mounting the lights higher (if possible) will provide greater spread and may eliminate the need for the smaller fixtures? I have a sliding cable system for my lights and there is a noticeable and measurable difference in PAR in the darkest areas simply adjusting the height of the fixture..

Best of luck with it!

Thanks for the compliments and the info on the lights. Id love to do a sliding cable system, but my wife wasn't too thrilled with the idea of hanging anything over the tank as she wants to mount something above it, like a guitar, mirror, etc. I think Im going to do something like that over the 135 in the office though. Love to see some pics of yours.

Thanks again!

great build! i love the super clean plumbing!

Thanks guys!! Tank has been running great for just about 6 months now and........I want a bigger one!! lol sorta kidding..

Tried to introduce a 7-8" Vieja argentea to the tank a few days ago and failed miserably. Moved some of the wood around after a water change, waited till after lights out and moved him in. Woke up the next day to find him being chased by the festae in my avatar and my JD had shredded most of his fins. So....I pulled him back out for a bit longer. Time for a new strategy......

The idea now is to wait another week for the 10" managuense in the pic to finish qt, and I'm going to introduce them both together AFTER I pull all the wood and do a total re scape of the tank. Kinda attached to the setup as it is, but the current residents have setup territories so they are defending them which is totally understandable. I figure if I totally change everything in the tank and add 2 new fish at once, my chances should improve quite a bit.........

should look quite a bit different when I post up some new pics

Heres some shots showing stand assembled , koralias in place and 2 lighting looks. I actually have three different lighting settings that ill post up a little later when the lunars kick on. Theres one that will simulate dusk and dawn, another for full daylight and the last is full lunar. Eventually, they will be on dimmers so all looks will fade in and out with no sudden lights on or off.

The stand has three black acrylic panels that attach with velcro. Makes is really easy to work around the sump being designed this way. Wish all my tanks had access this easy....

wow is that a Coralife lighting??
