300 litre stock ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Or for stock ideas what about:
-1 black ghost knife fish
-6 silver dollars
- 4 parrot fish
- 4 firemouth chiclid
-8 clown Loach
- 2 rope fish
- 2 pitcus catfish
- 1 common pleco

Can you please answer the following questions for me:
1. Are these fish compatible or will any of them fight? If they will what species is the problem
2. Are they suitable for the tank size?
If not then please can you tell what fish will get to big and if the number of each species is the problem please can you tell me the appropriate number of fish
3. Also is there is any stock ideas you think would be good in the aquarium?

1. parrot fish and firemouth may fight. pictus should be in a larger shoal at least 8. Silver dollars spook too easily so they will crash into the sides once they reach 4". Rope fish do better in larger groups like at least 4. Common pleco is too large. Not enough room long term for 8 clown loaches.
2. Tank is way too small for that many fish.
3.

1 Parrot, Columbian tetras 10X (substitute for Silver dollars), maybe 1bgk or 8+ cory cat types (not both).

Also my water change schedule would be 50% every week just incase that helps with the possibility for the fish

It's impossible to assess your water change schedule before you even have your tank set up. It's a totally unrealistic way of gauging what your schedule needs to be. And in any case it's not YOU that determines that call, it's your bio load, which, through regular nitrate testing once your tank is cycled will tell you what your nitrate creep is, and what schedule to put in place to keep it in check moving forward.

Your stock list needs to change drastically because that tank simply isn't big enough for your wish list, even some of your wish list! As an example, that tank is too small long term for even ONE oscar, so you're making it unreasonably difficult for anyone to give you any positive feedback on your choices.

If you want an interesting, exciting to feed predator fish, bearing in mind the tank size, then maybe a group of exodons. I've never kept them, I'm sure others will comment on the pros and cons of my suggestion. But it seems to be a fish that ticks your boxes.

Okay what about then:
-1 bgk
-5 firemouth chiclid
-5 ropefish
-8 pitcus catfish
-1 bichir
-8 silver dollars
And can somebody recommend a pleco please

I wouldn’t put more than 2 rope fish in that tank. Or more than 5 pictus. 8 silvers is safe but only on their own. And this is assuming they are the only main fish in the tank. “Bichir” is not specific at all. Some are large while others are not.
Bristlenose pleco is small.
Essentially you have listed 6 options to nearly fully stock the tank. In a large aquarium (300 gal) they are compatible, but not here.

Is the following suitable then:
-3 rope fish
-8 silver dollars
-1 bgk
-5 pitcus
-6 firemouth chiclid
-1 Senegal bichir
- 1 royal pleco
-1 clown pleco
- 1 rubber lip pleco

I have know found a 450 litr aquarium 120 gallons so my knew stocking plan is
-1 bgk
- 4 rope fish
- 10 silver dollars
- 5 pitcus
- 6 firemouth chiclid
- 1 Senegal bichir
- 1 common pleco

Still way too many fish. There's no need for the common pleco because it will eat the same food as the other bottom feeding fish. The silvers dollars are a huge bioload when they get to 6" and will outcompete the other fish for food. The other fish will barely get any food, especially the bgk and bichir.
