300 litre stock ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You seem to be one of those hobbyists who gets an unresearched and totally unrealistic stocking plan in their head, and then stops at nothing until someone gives them the green light and says it's fine.

Not on this forum pal.

Your first plan was bonkers, and your parrot plan is totally off the scale.

The more this thread goes on, and the ruder you become, because none of us will agree with your ideas, the more I think you are just trolling us.
We must award this guy a
""Overly excited over confident noob"" fish-KILLER .
Certificate

Just go with what was stated, 6 parrot cichlids, a rope fish or BGK, and a pleco

Overstocking a tank to the point of constantly needing large water changes is never a good idea, when life gets busy it will get that much harder to keep up with maintenance and your fish will suffer for it. Keep things simple, it is still rewarding and it gives you some breathing room. A full and busy tank is strenuous to care for, especially with all the change that can come up in life. The people here have given you solid advice on stocking.

A group of 6 firemouths or other medium thoricthys would make for a nice display, or 6 blue acaras. Parrot cichlids can get pretty huge.

This guy ain’t even full grown. They can get 10 inches. Fish grow after buying them at 2 inches...

Can someone just answer my last question please because I've already been told about the number of parrot fish and to be honest puskar I don't care what you think because you tell me to do research and the Internet can be very misleading so I want information that isn't old and is from experienced people so next time why don't you just mind your own business and leave me alone

You haven't said who told you that you could keep 10-15 parrot fish in your proposed tank. I doubt it's anyone here. Was it the fish store? If so, they just want your money. Was it youtube? Youtubers like to overstock for likes.

If it's someone you know, how long did the 10-15 parrot fish last in their tank?

Another question to ask them is how long it took nitrates to get to 20ppm?

and how much of a water change it took to keep it below 20ppm?

If the person/persons can't answer the last 3 questions, and especially the last question, then their answers about how many BP/fish you can keep is suspect.

Managing nitrates below 20ppm is at least 20 years old, but that information doesn't expire or lead anyone to dead/sick fish.

If you keep fishing for only answers you like, then just do what you want. You don't really need to ask anyone. Everyone here is trying to make sure that the fish you get lives at least 10 years, and that you get the most out of fishkeeping.

Internet research isn’t too misleading either...mostly just on the more obscure fish that are hard to find.
The first results on tank size are sometimes iffy, but scrolling down a bit and reading old forum posts usually has all the info you need.

He's only looking for answers that he wants to hear. And if he's so arrogant not to take into consideration 7 pages worth of thread , he's gonna do what he wants to.

Would it be suitable for 1 oscar because I'm not overly bothered about the numbers and I'm happy to change them but I would like to have each species so are they compatible and what about a peacock bass because Google says a 75 gallon but I'm not sure if that is big enough
I’d say a 180 would be minimum for the smaller types of peacock bass
