You're an ass. I've never had a single harsh word for you & I'm not even close to being a confrontational guy. In fact, I still check your museum tank thread on occasion just to see if its had an update & I love what you've done to your restaurant. At least I DID. All of your recent posts (that I've seen) have been extremely condescending & its really unnecessary. Go fly a kite. D*$&.

EGON- Dont jump on his bandwagon. You're better than that.
um:grinno: ,and to think he wouldn't know how to cycle a tank thats just :screwy:;and i am:drool: over this tank diego i bow to you

Such an age of internet bravado!

Granted there are those who claim and yet do not show, but, for those who claim and then show it is meet that ? be asked before accusations fly.

The thread is about a 3K gallon tank and genius thinks maybe the owner of said 3K gallon tank may not know how to cycle the tank.

It's not like he just set up his first 20 long. :screwy: He owns a 3 thousand gallon tank

Well, to his credit, I think JakeH might have a point in that the tank MAY not have fully cycled? His manner might have been a bit uncouth, but I see his point. I remember reading through this thread but don't remember details on the filter. I also remember that the fish seemed to have been transferred as a group?

A new pond + fish dying = usually means a problem with the cycling especially if it is a start up cycle. Just because someone has the means and the will to build a 3k doesn't mean he knows everything about fish keeping. I know when I started my 1k pond, I knew practically nothing and learned a lot along the way.

Diego, perhaps it would be good for the community if you would give us an idea on why you think the fish died? What happened in that one week that you were away that led to them dying? I mean, if your household help overfed them leading to a spike in ammonia, a working filtration system should have taken cared of that, albeit getting it overworked a bit. If it was just the ray, it would be a no brainer that the water parameters might have been off. But for an aro to die, it seems more complicated OR that the parameters are thru the roof.

I also noted that when some of your fish died, you literally "cleaned" the tank?

Doesn't that make it worse since your tank will recycle again? Not unless there was a problem with parasites...

bro.... For starters, water in Ecuador is totally different from your country... It has less chemicals... And second... Y have a 16 500 gallon tank... That I store water and cycle it... Ih and by the way I've been keeping fish for more than 12 years... Trust me... I know what I'm doing dude

Also, your reply to that guy worries me also in that it is not the water or the chemicals or the aging water that we are all worried about, it is the stability of your nitrogen cycle and the robustness of your biological filtration. I've been keeping fish far longer than you brother and trust me, I'll be the first to admit, my knowledge is at best just a notch above a noob. Hehe

This is the timeline that I've noticed from Diego's posts:

December 16: Started filling with water.
December 18: Added 2 Aros, 2 Rays and 1 RTC
January 12: Added Pleco, Oscar, Pacu
January 27: An Aro and a Ray dies
(cleans tanks)
January 27: Added 3 banded Leporinus
Does this sound about right Diego?
