from sotuhampton uk i saved on the base in labour and materials im a bricklayer by trade keeping fish for 6-7 years i spose tank was 6k odd plus base, plumminng, heating, ect, opitwhite front panel of glass still lots of tanning coming out as u see when filling it the water was clear ,it was mad three of us trying to lift the bog wood in off step ladder from out side tank and me standing inside not to mark the glass, thanks to the missis and kids lol,the glass and water make it not look very wide does not look 3 foot odd(front to back)looks better to the eye than the camra. it was about a week to set up the base had to get it level perfect for them to build on which it was, i put polystyreen on steels just to make sure and marine ply25mm so it would last.got to be 5 to 7 ton odd theres 250kg plus of wood and sand/rocks ,i spose ,thanks for looking and your in put all.time will tell if my umbee and dovi ,flowerhorn will co exist at full size together i hope so its looking good so far...

I came across your forum today and saw that you mentioned using the Braude Immersion Heater and had a couple questions about that. I have plans to build an indoor pond soon and the heating is pretty much the only thing holding me back right now. How does that heating device work? Does it have the auto shut off when it reaches the desired temperature? and how much does one of those cost? THanks

the picture of it is sitting in the sump tank is the second sump picture go direct to web site braude and get phone number dont go to tmc ,(they put 100 od on top)they will deal direct with you and are very helpfull and nice its meant for heating industrial things like acids ,and what have you, so it will not be harmed by anything you can put on it ,i have atc 800+ running(from ebay) it but thats pluged into the aquatronica if the aquatroina fails it swicthes all plug on not good and boil the fish, if the atc fails it switches off itself and 2 three hundred watt set on low to take over, my tank holds heat so well it took 2-3 days to get 33 back to 26deg, i though that was mad ,so i could go away for a few days and no matter what all would be ok ,i thought i brought 1.5kw but on the tagg it says 2k.w the ring like fasion make it a very good way to heat and various stands and sizes.you can get plenty in america of heating units all 110 of coarse no good for uk it pefect prices are all on there.hope this helps..

Cracking build, great job all around, do you think is would have been cheaper to diy a plywood tank or did you just want the glass?

i dont think water and wood goes to much to gether my last tank condensation was hard to deal with on diffent days of weather i used marine ply 25mm for base but thats it really thats not that cheap but you can get some good resins to cover wood with now days, and im better with bricks and steel than with wood ,i just wanted to keep it as simple and as long lasting as possable really.the glass tank can have the corners cut out and redone in 15 -20 years if need be and be re-used should last well we will see. no condesation issuse round sumps now all dry around them im pleased with the results there.i added 2 canister fillters as well to fine clean the water, wood is leaching a lot still thou.
