300gal plywood paludarium project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here are some FTS. I stuck some selaginella into the background. Hopefully it takes. I'm not running the dripwall yet because the clay sections seem to have not yet stabilized and are washing into the water portion. I'm going to give them a little longer to establish before turning on the flow.

Looks AMAZING!

Well done.

Dude.... wow. XD

very nice. one question about the ocean clear filters. would it be better to have the pump after wards to pull all the junk out then back to the tank. looked those filters before but wasnt sure about them.

While that seems to make sense, water pumps are designed to push water rather than pull it so this is how you typically set up these filters. Apparently, if you place the pump after the filters you get cavitation.

Also, I'm using Nu-Clears instead of Ocean Clears. They are similar filters but the Nu-Clears have a number of advantages (1" hose plumbing, better sealing mechanism for the lid and easier to clean filter cartridge). The construction quality is excellent - much better than your average aquarium filter. They do require a little more plumbing work to set them up in comparsion to the ordinary 'plug and play' canisters.

Good to know about those canisters, thanks for sharing. Congrats on this tank. This is going in my all time favorite top 3 tanks of all time! The fact you have done it yourself is very impressive. I'm jealous.. :D

Awesome awesome tank! one of the nicest looking diy builds i've seen, so professional looking! If i ever make a tank i will look to this thread for pointers.

Questions: The top portion is open? If so, are you going to leave it open?

Looking forward to future updates!
